I installed a media card reader in my computer tower. Since I have only one mother board USB header to use, I disconnected my front USB cable, thus deactivating my front USBs and connected my media card reader. When I powered up my computer the media card reader worked fine, however I discovered that my optical mouse was disabled. Why did I loose power in my optical mouse? How can I restore my optical mouse? HELP!

I guess you must have disconnected the media card reader and plugged in the mouse to see if it worked. If not... you need to do that. If it still does not work, click on the Start menu and go to Control Panel. Search for the Mouse icon and click on it. You might have to search around to figure it out, but my guess is that the records of the mouse you have would be found in the Hardware, Devices, and maybe Quick Setup tabs. If it does not show that you have your (brand name and/or model name) optical mouse as one of the hardware components, then I would suggest finding the mouse software and install it. Normally, the mouse would work without having to install this so.... Well, first you should check to see If the red light (under the mouse) turns on when you plug the mouse in. If it does not, then the mouse must be broken itself. Hope this helps. If you could clarify your situation a little bit, I could help you more.

Make sure that the mouse is plugged in all the way. You might have knocked it loose through the course of installing the card reader.
