just practice is all i can say... see im trying to practice that too lol.. oh buy like a recorder and record yourself singing and just teach yourself the way you like singing like go by what sounds good to you and kinda make your own voice you don't have to sound like other rock singers make it your own lol i think the lead singer of some band said thats what they did but i can't remember what band or singer that was hmmm.... but try it lol! rock on! never give up on your dream!!♥

You need to get voice lessons to learn how to do it properly. Otherwise, you will blow out your vocal cords. Make sure that the person who teaches the lessons understands your goals. You should know the proper techniques for singing before you try to get that raspy rock voice. Opera is a good start. (Seriously)

I've often wondered about that - I mean, what does Chad Kroeger sound like when he's just talking?! Is his voice naturally like that or is there something he does when singing to make it gravelly & hard? I'd guess you have to practice - lots. I know a lot of people recommend voice training for control & strength, also how to use your voice properly so you don't damage your vocal chords.

same way you learned to play the guitar. Practice, practice, practice. Might take a few voice lessons as well and better quit smoking...

maybe listen to different rock singers and blend their techniques with your own.
