Problem is, we are such jokey, funny, not that serious type of friends - we have such a laugh together and i think it would be hard to suddenly put on a serious face about this topic when all these months we have just "joked" about it

And yes, there is a problem, he is single but i am not, and im not too sure how i feel right now - im in between

well you have a very tough decisoon to make. I mean who do you care about more. I mean if you care about your friend more then the guy you are going out with then go out with your friend. Your friend might not always be there for you.

If you are undecided you should wait. Don't give your friend any hope or treat him any differently. The question you should be asking yourself is "Do I still love my partner?"
If the answer is yes, then just continue your friendship as before. It may seem hard at first but you'll soon fall back into the pattern. If the answer is No then you have to start evaluating your life and in what direction you want to go.
It may be alright to think that being such close friends that you can be good partners together, but the reality is that it would be totally different than what you can imagine it to be. And the same would apply to him.
Would it be worth destroying a perfectly good relationship for a fantasy.
Yes, you may find that being with your friend could be a better relationship. But the fact is the decision is yours and yours alone, you are doing well in getting as much advice as possible about it. But it's up to you to correlate the information and make a decision. Give yourself time to think, wait a while, let the temperature cool a little. Don't be ruled by your heart. It's your head that does the thinking and then make any decisions. Remember once acted upon, it's very hard to go back.

Do you feel the same way about him as he does you? If he "loves" you, do you "love" him enough to leave your current relationship and start a new one with him?

If your current relationship doesn't feel right, maybe you should leave it and before you jump into a relationship with this guy, have a few weeks as a single girl although you can still stay in touch with him and in that time, you can explore your feelings for each other

Go for it and see what happens. If it all goes Pete Tong you can always come on here and ask random strangers to sort your personal life out again.
