Does familiarity truly breed contempt? Or is this some sign of a personality disorder?

Because in the beginning of any relationship as a form of survival, our brains produces hormones so that we'd think that person is perfect for us (hence the term 'falling in love' because we really are falling or the term that 'love is blind'). This happens because if we saw all the bad traits in the other person we wouldn't even bother to have a relationship with them nor would we even think in million years that we'd want to have kids with them with *that* attitude and *that* upbringing. ^_^

This so called "honeymoon period" of course ends in a while because our brains can't keep producing that hormone. And this is when we see the once 'endearing quirks' into monstrous 'annoying habits'.

Remember, LOVE is a VERB. <3

lmao - yes, familiarity does indeed breed contempt. You have to decide if you can live with the annoying habits or not - in other words, can you learn how to tune them out so you don't end up strangling the other person? If so, proceed. If not - move on & find someone's quirks that won't bother you so badly!! Not a personality disorder, but human nature.

Lea is right. In the infatuation stage, everything is endearing, but that only lasts about 3 months, and then reality sets in.

Love is blind. When you first fall in love your emotions take over (steered by your body's chemistry) and there is a lot you do not see. That's why it's a really good idea to get to "know" a person before you commit.

HAVING SOMEONE RUN THEIR FINGERS THROUGH YOUR HAIR WHEN COURTING OR MAKING LOVE IS NICE. HAVING THEM DO IT EVERY DAY IS A NUISANCE.
