Isn't much easier to say mom and dad, or mother and father?

This is, to me, some of the most annoying slang since...well, I don't know, BUT - when did these words become accepted by the media? I am seeing this crap in magazines now...ughh!!

These are terms that are used to describe the relationship between two adults, not adults and their children.

Unfortunately, these days, with so many people having children with people they are not married to, we need words that describe the relationship between two adults who have a child together but don't have any other tie like marriage. A person who is your child's father, then, but is not or was not married to you, is your "baby daddy". You can figure out "baby mommy" for yourself, I think.

Yes it'd be easier, but slang seems to be an accepted form of speaking these days. So I guess you're stuck with hearing it said that way for the time being.

I was married for 13 years and just got a divorced. I have a few times referred to my ex as 'my babies daddy'. It cracks me up. Other people didn't flinch. So I stopped. I did not want anyone thinking I was serious.

It does seem ridiculous. Maybe a way of filling space by people who have no ability to write, or nothing worthwhile to contribute?

It's infantile (pardon the irony)

'baby' indicates that the said parent (daddy, mommy) is still very young, hence the descriptive adjective 'baby'.
