It could, yes, but it's not worth it because you will never have any sense of worth of your own. You will always judge yourself by what others think of you according to how you impress them. This is a vicious cylcle that you need not enter in to.

Yes think so.Remember the paradox about the guy who wanted to be the most humble person ?
A good lot of us seem to be having this addiction in varying degrees. Talk about trying to be the corpse at the funeral.
But suppressing it doesnt work. Becoming Aware and watching our own behaviour should cure this, in time.

yes i do think that trying to impress others can be addicting because once you do and do impress others for a while it kind of will be a habit that you have picked up and will probally keep on doing for a long time.

I rather think that the insecurity of the person is the issue and this produces a need for approval hence the constant attempts to impress other ppl.

no....why?...because i don't care about impressing others. i call it the Popeye theory : " i am what i am and that's all that i am" ....if people like me, they do, if they don't, they don't..either way i still exist and am happy with who i am...so i carry on and not care if i impress someone, but as for people who do try to impress others..... i can see a possibility of it becoming an addicting behavior.

I REALLY LIKE YOUR QUESTION. IT SHOWS YOU ARE A THINKER......
IT ALSO MAKES ME WONDER IF YOU ARE MAKING AN OBSERVATION OF OTHERS, OR IF YOU HAVE AN INSECURITY ABOUT THIS BEHAVIOR.
IMPRESSING OTHERS CAN BECOME A DEPERATE NEED FOR SOME PEOPLE.
IT INDICATES LOW SELF-ESTEEM.
IT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A WOMAN WEARING ENOUGH MAKEUP TO ACCENTUATE HER FEATURES, AND ONE THAT PAINTS THEM ON WITH A BUTTERKNIFE. IT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SUBTLE SCENT AND MARINATING IN IT. IT IS THE DOFFERENCE BETWEEN A RELIABLE CAR AND ONE THAT COSTS SEVERAL YEAR'S SALARY. IMPRESSING OTHERS IS THE REASON WHY SOME PEOPLE ARE 'BRANDED" (CARE ABOUT BRAND LABELS).
SOME POEPLE ARE CONSTANT APPROVAL-SEEKERS, WHO DON'T FEEL CONFIDENT UNLESS THEY ARE IMPRESSING OTHERS. VALIDATING THEIR EGO THOUGH THE APPROVAL OF OTHERS CAN BE A RUSH.
APPROVAL-SEEKERS ARE TRANSPARENT. THEY TRY TO CONVINCE THE WORLD OF THEIR WORTH THROUGH ARTIFICIAL, SUPERFICIAL MEANS. THEIR INSECUTIRY IS OBVIOUS......
MASTERING SKILLS, CULTIVATING TALENTS, AND VOLUNTEERING ONE'S TIME AND EFFORT, ARE WAYS TO BUILD ONE'S SELF-ESTEEM. THINGS LIKE SPORTS, MARTIAL ARTS, PLAYING MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS, DANCING, AND OTHER SKILLS ARE A FEW EXAMPLES.

Noo, that would be a pretty wierd addiction. Unless you're some sort of self-centred, attention seeking Narcissus.
