What is there to debate?

Seriously. They want to build Nuclear weapons, and we don't want them to. Who the hell are we to tell them this? We have enough nuclear weapons to destroy the entire planet many times over. What gives us the right to just contact other countries and tell them they are not allowed to possess what we possess. Iran has every right to feel like it needs to defend itself. After all we just invaded their neighbor a few years back and are still occupying Iraq.

If China invaded Mexico and then started telling us we had to destroy all our nukes, how would we feel about that?

If we are going to possess nukes, it is pretty hard to insist that we are allowed to have them but others are not. I am by no means a fan of Iran, but seriously, what we are asking does seem unreasonable if you try to see it from all sides.
