I have had 4 times in the last 2 months. I'm very worried... I already used creams that my doctor prescribed but it keeps coming back especially after my period is gone. Can having sex while your having your period be the cause? What is the difference from Bacterial vagintinits and Yeast infection?

Thank you!

I wanted to add that I have started taking birth contorl pills call Loestrin 24E, I think this can also cause it. I have been tested for all kinds of STDs and thank God it has all come back negative.

There are some strains of yeast that are resistent to creams. (I think candida is one of the more persistent strains but could be off on the name.)

Having sex during your period shouldn't be causing problems. You should have your partner go to the doctor for testing -- have him tell the dr that you are getting reoccurances of infections.

Some basic things you can do to help yourself with this:

* wear cotton only underwear
* be sure to wear a clean pair every day and if you sweat a lot during the day, change them more than once
* make sure to clean thoroughly during a shower -- use a washcloth and a mild antibacterial soap
* after a shower, dry your vaginal area with the cool setting on a hair dryer

Also watch what you eat. Abstain from beer for a while, if you drink that. Stay away from foods with yeasts.

Your doctor should start to be more aggressive with treating this.

Take A-Z Yeast pills. They can be found at any pharmacy. Not expensive and no perscription needed. I take those in addition to the creams, and even when the creams are gone, i take the pills for a couple days longer. Then wear cotton "granny panties" for a good week as well.
My doctor told me that birth control pills make you more likely to get yeast infections, so keep yourself dry all the time and maybe take the A-Z yeast pills for a month or so just to clear yourself of excess yeast (even if you don't have an infection). I know they can be taken regularly, although I don't take the regularly.

Your dental health is unlikely to be causing your gf recurrent yeast infections. It's most important that she goes into the doctor and gets a diagnosis of yeast infection, that way she can be prescribed the appropriate course of treatment. It may not be a yeast infection, it may be an STD, or even a vaginal infection which is why she needs to be seen as soon as possible. Good luck.

If it is a yeast infection, try eating yogurt and also drinking buttermilk while your on medication. Do not keep fooling around with it, it could be alot more serious. Try staying away from bubble baths and also invest in cotton crotch painties, as nylon as a tendency to spread it. Sex during period does not cause it. Try the above and keep using medicine and BY all means DO NOT FOOL AROUND WITH IT. IF THE DOCTOR YOUR USING DOESN'T GET IT TO STOP WITHIN ANOTHER MONTH FIND ANOTHER GYN. DOCTOR.

Your boyfriend could very well have it and keeps passing it to you. A lot of the time men get yeast infections and don't know because they don't suffer from the same symptoms.

Does your gyno know you're sexually active? Tell him/her... they'll reccomend your boyfriend gets checked out, too.

Also, there is a disorder out there (can't think of the name off the top of my head) that just makes ya naturally imbalanced like that. There is a presrciption medication out there that can balance you out.

Are you taking birth control pills? Especially a new/different kind? Because those can throw you off as well.

Good luck...

No, having sex while being on your period will not cause this fungus. It sounds more like a case of your partner reinfecting if not being treated for yeast. Be sure that both you and your partner are treated for yeast infection. Men do not show symptoms in most cases, but if you are treating yourself, and your partner isn't, you're getting reinfected with every sexual encounter. Best wishes...

Are you sure that it is a yeast infection and has your doctor done an exam on you every time to verify that it is? It is probably not a good idea to have sex while on your period. Let your period run it natural course and cleanse itself and then when it is over then you can return to having sex. Ask your doctor about boric acid that a compound pharmacist can make.

Get tested for Diabetes. Diabetics are more prone to yeast infections.
