I posted a ? about my baby waking up constantly, and one lady answered maybe she has heartburn (she's formula fed) I've mentioned to her pediatrician that she wakes up a lot, and he didnt say anything about heartburn, but I think it could be a reason. How can I find out? What are come other symptoms that she has heartburn? Thanks very much for your answers!

Some of the symptoms are:
sudden and inconsolable crying
bad breath
frequent night waking
noisy and difficult breathing
failure to thrive
swallowing problems
arching as if to get away from the breast or bottle
gagging or choking
asthma
awakening with crying, quickly responding to feeding, then awakening again in one to two hours

It's not heartburn -GER maybe. Maybe the formula doesn't satisfy her. There are several options available to you.

One is to get the doctor to change her formula.

Two is to mix Rice cereal with the formula until it is a very thin gruel.

Three is an over the counter medicine called Mylacon. Couple of drops and gas is all gone.

Four is a prescription for an acid reducer medicine.

My grand daughter had GER. I went through all of the above. I finally ended up mixing fruit with rice cereal and water until it was really thick. It settled to the bottom of the stomach and let the gas come out the top. Make sure you burp her a lot. Even between feedings. If she has GER (which is the new word for colic or gas) her little belly hurts.

Very interesting question! Never heard about heartburn in babys except for reflux babys and I am not even sure that its called heartburn! If your baby is waking up constantly maybe she is hungry!

I don't think your baby has heartburn, I think is gas or colic. Maybe a change in formula would be indicated. Mention this to your pedictrician. I have never heard of babies having heartburn.

Not true. I didn't have any heartburn at all and my baby had a full head of hair and even hair on her back and shoulders, hopefully that will fall off soon though.

Generally it would be an acid reflux issue, and in that case your baby would be spitting up A LOT.

They'd probably have you change how your feeding her, when your feeding her, how much and what.

But the sign is generally a baby who spits up constantly.
