Over the past two decades the United States has grown more and more complacent with foreign policies and interest than that of its own need to take care of its self. Over that same time period the citizens have grown frustrated at the sight of its freedoms diminish and its economy dying among so many other things.

Is the U.S headed for another civil war of sorts?

Could the U.S government foresee this becoming a possibility and thus be a part of the reason to why more and more we are becoming a policed state? As well as to why 9/11 occurred?

Tell me what you think!!

Uh, don't know where you're getting your information from - but the economy isn't "dying" - it's actually quite vibrant.

Unemployment is low.

I'm not quite sure what you mean about the U.S. becoming complacent with "foreign policies" - especially since we've basically seen the fall of the Soviet Union and the repudiation of Communism from Europe less than 20 years ago, George W. has significantly changed America's foreign policiy in the last 5 years - and specifically labled certain countries as part of an "Axis of Evil".

While it's true the government could probably do more to take care of us - you have to be more specific about what you're thinking about. Personally, I think the government already wastes way too much of our money on meaningless programs, government waste ("bridge to nowhere" anyone?), and inefficencies (FEMA debit cards being used to pay for strippers).

I don't possibly see how the U.S. could be headed towards a civil war. Look at what happened in 2000, we had a bitterly contested election - and yet power changed hands from one political party to another without any force, without any violence, without any problems (not counting the whole Florida debacle!).

I certainly don't see how we are becoming more of a police state "because of this."

Increased security and controls are because we were complacent before - and now we found that we have a problem, and we need to be more careful.

Consider this example - suppose you drive your car a certain way - let's say you're really hard on your brakes. You stomp on them at the last minute, you ride your brakes, you generally beat the crap out of them.

Then you find out that it's going to take a lot of money to fix your brakes - because you were so hard on them.

So what do you do? Do you keep on driving the same way, knowing that it will cause a problem? Or do you start to change the way you drive - being more careful about your brakes?

It's the same way with security in the U.S. - we weren't concerned about terrorism before - we never really believed that terrorist would come into the U.S. and attack us - so we didn't really have a lot of steps in place to locate them, or to stop them.

Then 9/11 happened - a big wake up call. There are people out there who want to kill us - and they're using our own casual lifestyle as a way to get into our country and plan and execute their attacks. Things need to change.

If you feel this is becoming a "police state" - then what is the option? Are we to do nothing and just hope that another 9/11 doesn't happen? Are we supposed to say that "terrorists be damned - we are not giving up any of our freedoms?"

I've been saying for years that we need a new revolution. Perhaps people are fed up enough with the state of government that we'll finally take the country back to the people.
