With shows like the lamentable "The Swan" I feel that beauty has become pinpointed to such a small grouping of socially acceptable features so that having an "ethnic" nose, a gap in the teeth, or small breasts is mocked and belittled (no pun intended.) Comments?

I totally agree. Women are all expected to conform to a cookie-cutter standard of beauty, with no regard for individuality. Thankfully, you sometimes see women who are considered beautiful and don't conform to standard definitions of beauty.

Well, I partially agree. Being the standard Caucasian, small featured, large breasted and thin woman is considered beautiful in most societies, but most people still like women who have characteristics like their own, whether that be ethnic features or anything else. People are generally attracted to the standard beauty as well as people who look somewhat like them.

Definitely. I'm here in Japan and the standard of beauty is : Fair flawless skin, dyed colored hair, large mascarading eyes and slim figure.

The pretty girls look really "perfect" but after a while, I find that they all kinda look the same.

I Think it is overated....everyone wants to be perfect so they 100's of thousands of dollars to look like everyone else. Personally I think everyone should be happy with themselves the way they are. Plastic surgery should be for people who really need it.
