Someone jammed paper in my gas tank. When I tried to get it out, I was able to get the larger chunks but several smaller pieces went into the actual tank. Will this cause damage to my engine as it travels through the gas line?

Most vehicles have a screen inside the gas tank that will prevent debris from getting past and into the fuel system but something as large as paper might plug this filter so if you experience any problems occurring since this happened then you will have to have it cleaned out.

Believe me it wont' make it up that far. If you have an in-tank fuel pump it won't get past the fuel screen in your tank. It'll clog it and you'll have to dissassemble the pump out of the tank and remove it by hand. Or, if it dissintegrated enough to get past the screen it wont' get past your fuel filter. It'll clog it you'll feel like your car is dragging something and your fuel economy will suck. It'll stall sometimes and more sh*tty stuff like that.

Yes you have to get the tank cleaned and also the carborater of your vehicle to avoid untoward incidents at a later stage.

It won't get past the fuel filter, but it might clog the filter.
