With their own 2 eyes when it comes to the subject of terrorism?

What's "political correctness"? Both extreme liberals and extreme conservatives tend to have an orthodoxy that they expect everyone else to follow, even when it makes no rational sense.

Another problem with your question is that very few Americans actually see terrorism, either in its root causes or in its effects, "with their own two eyes". We only see the highly skewed versions of the truth that the corporate-owned media report to us.

Only people who live in places where terrorism is commonplace, such as Colombia, Kashmir, or Iraq can really claim to know terrorism first-hand.

It's not about political correctness or conspiracy theories (some just make me crack up with laughter) but how you can make intelligent choices on the credibility of the source or information.

If you think about it, I don't trust the media anymore. People say this, people say that... there is this "Wa Wa" kid story in Australia where the top media tv channels basically used the poor kid as a means of "TV RATINGS" by tv viewers. the lies are so open, it's like concrete cancer on a building.

I personally think that because of the control the media has over people's opinions, people have a limited choice on what to believe.

Think about it... how many pro-Bush, pro-government, pro-"It's all OBL's fault" average Joes have actually gone out and seen movies like Loose Change and Fahrenheit 9/11. In all seriousness, if you remember, Bush came out in the first few weeks or so afterwards and said, "Let us not tolerate these conspiracy theories that shift the blame away from the guity"... since when are Americans supposed to be the subject of intolerance on the basis that we believe differently? And consider how Michael Moore was blasted as being "un-American" and "unpatriotic" because of what he said in his documentary... I know that all the bias against him was what stopped my husband and me from watching it until the other day.

Isn't America about freedom? Freedom to choose what to believe? Freedom to think about the things of our choice? Yet... if those of us are not to be tolerated because of our choice of belief, then there really is no freedom there, but only an imagined choice.

"Believe the government knows best, and is morally correct" (yet, if it were so, Hitler would have never burned the Reichstag to the ground and blamed the Polish, or Nero would've never burned Rome to the ground and blamed the Christians... since when are we Americans so much morally better than either of those times, that it has become impossible for such a thing to happen here?).

"Believe the media is accurate and unbiased" (yet, it is common knowledge that a few major media outlets have fabricated stories, and photoshopped pictures to slant a story one way or another).

"Believe no one has an agenda, and everyone but laymen have all the facts" (not necessarily true. Whoever has the most to gain from a situation will not willingly show facts that are contrary to their conclusion, or worse, make up facts to solidify their position... true in all fields of study, but espeicially so in science and politics).

"Believe no one is out to get you, because you have done nothing wrong" (again, not necessarily true. People whose hearts are guided by evil have no qualms about killing the innocent... and it does not matter if they are within the rank and file of the U.S. gov't, or hiding in caves in the Middle Eastern deserts).

"Let the gov't guide and protect you, since they know best" (since when is it "knowing best" to say "Iraq has no WMD's", but a few months later, say, "Iraq HAS WMD's, and has plans to use them", only to find later on, that the first statement was indeed the correct one).

Too many people take "What Dr. So-and-so" says as fact, simply because they have a title in their name, without doing any true research for themselves. Both extremes, that is, being PC or blindly believing in a conspiracy theory, is unhealthy for the American society, but a balance, and true, individual observations, should be made with all facts that are given, and let the individual come to their own conclusion.
