It sounds like your rear brakes are worn out. One way to verify this on your own, is to check the brake fluid level in your brake master cylinder reservoir. If the level is low, do NOT top it up. It means your brakes require service due to your brake pad or shoe lining material has worn down. Many types of vehicles do incorporate wear indicators on their brake pads, which when worn down the level where the indicator touches the brake rotor (probably the noise you are hearing), alerts the driver of the vehicle that service is required. Do not wait until the SQUEEL becomes a GRIND sound. Thats when it will become more expensive to repair.

Okay,I'm no "Machanic", but I did learn a thing or two about cars from the neighborhood, guys.. It sounds to me, like you either need to put break fluid, in the little under the hood funnel, and if it doesn't stop after that, you could very well be needing new break pads... You could probably ask around your neighborhood, to see if there are any reasonable machanics, to have a look at it.. There much cheaper, than going to a "Garage"... the business people will tell you all these other things are wrong with your car, and jack-up your bill so high, if you let them, and may not even fix your problem, unless you watch them work on it... Then they have to.. If they tell you , you need to wait over here, while we fix, it.. then their probably not doing anything to it, and going to make you pay some Outrageous bill, for doing nothing!! When they see us women coming, they're like have $$$$, in their eyes!! And I'm not joking , either... Years ago, they even did a survey, a woman & a man, traveled around the country, acting like things were wrong with their cars.. to see if it was true, about women getting taken for a long financial-ride.. And it was "True!!" So, be careful of those machanics who work in shops!!!
