I am visiting New York for the New Year and January Sales. I really want a Nintendo DS Lite with Brain Training. Should I buy it now in the UK or wait and get it from New York?

Remember these countries have different electric current. You will need an ac/dc transformer for recharging the batteries if you are buying in one country and using in another. I know. I bought mine in the UK but had to get an ac/dc to use it here.

Let it depend solely on price; other than the power adaptors possibly changing, the Nintendo DS is a region free device and will play games from any country. US DS's retail for $129.00 US right now...with the incredibly weak dollar it might be worth it to buy here. But don't expect a big sale price on DS's in January here...it's sold well and heavily since release, and Nintendo has traditionally done price cuts in the US in May, anticipating traditionally slow summer system sales. They've not done a price cut in January...well, ever, as far as I can remember.

It depends upon where you plan on using it the majority of the time.

It sounds like you live in the U.K. - so I would buy it there. That way your power cord will be based upon the U.K. standard, and not the U.S. standard - forcing you to use some sort of converter all the time.

From what I've been able to tell, you shouldn't have to worry about Region encoding (like on DVD's) with a DS - so that way it shouldn't matter where you buy it.

I'd just say that recharing it on some sort of power converter/adapter is not an ideal situation - so I'd do it as little as possible - thus, if you live in the U.K. - buy one there, and then purchase the adapter to use in the U.S. for your trip.

Plus - then you can play it on the plane ride over and back.

Good luck to you!

It would be half as expensive in New York with currency conversion, but you'd have to buy a convertor to charge it. Since a convertor only costs about £20, I think it's much better to buy it in the US.

simply i'd just say uk .. like they said in other posts, other countries use different adapters and things like that, so probably would work out cheaper overall
