A programming language is a highly specialized language used to write the software you use everyday. By only using the computer you are not using a language, you are using software written in a specific language. If you were writing software you would be using a language.
There are many different programming languages out there. The most common seem to be Java, C, C++, C#, Visual Basic, and Perl.
HTML, the code of web page design, is not a programming language. It is simply codes and tags used to format the webpage for screen display.

There are a lot of programming languages. If you think that using windows and surfing is using a language then you never programmed anything.
A programming language was used, however, to write every software that you use on windows (windows itselft was writen). So if you take for example the eclipse programming tool (www.eclipse.org) that you can use to program Java (and other language via a plugin). Eclipse itselft is written in Java.
The most common languages are :
C C++ C# VB
Java
Assembly languages

Programmers write programs in these languages then generally they are built into .exe files before the home user gets hold of them.
When you browse and do email you aren't doing anything remotely close to programming I'm afraid.

Programming language are codes that are interpreted and/or execute(binaries form eg .exe ) by PCs
when you are browsing you are reading Hyper Text Markup Language(HTML) that were converted by your browser to grapical/textual presentation (using URL uniform resource locator) over HTTP Hyper Text Transfer Protocols .And if you can interact with the page it due to clientside scripts like javascript, actionscript(flash),applets(java based applets in browser application)
Or CGI (script or executables)/ASP/servlet on the server side.

programming languages vary from website to website. The language is the code that they use to set up there site. but most are safe to view.... others imbed things to create problems. But you can trust all the major websites to be safe and problem free. Most of the time the langauge is the same.
