It is a 2002 and the engine light is on and have fixed the problem already

You did not specify the year of F-150, so assuming its a later model year, I would also assume you are referring to the amber check engine light illuminating. Its not advisable to ignore this. Bring it in to the dealer and request that they perform an EEC or NGS or WDS test on it. Also have then run your VIN (vehicle identification number) through OASIS to see if there are any outstanding field service actions on your vehicle. It could just be that it needs to have a new DPFE sensor replaced, which depending on year or mileage MAY be covered under a campaign, if applicable to your vehicle. Hope this helps.

a lot of cars will reset after the problem has been taken care of either on their own or after you have started the car x number of times. I've had a loose gas cap problem that clears up after about 5 starts. Oil change lights and such are in the owners manual. some you have to do tricks like push the brake three times .

disconnect the battery for 5 minutes should take care of it.

and the dealer will ususally charge to plug in his scan tools to check or clear the code...

The warranty for the DPFE was 5 years from date of first bought or 60kmiles/96k km If I remember.. sets a p0401 or p0402

Well, just remove the battery cable and short it to the other battery cable. What kind of problem are you having? Good luck.

Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery and leave it off for an hour or so.

Go to the dealer. They have a system that can find out what's wrong with your truck. There is no way you can do it on your own.
