My husband and I have recently taken a vacation and 5 out of the 10 days were spent without our luggage. No one at the airlines seems to care about customer service... real customer service. We were treated horribly. Before that we bought a new computer at Best Buy and that was a really hideous experience also. Customer service is nonexistent just about everywhere. Why is that?

Yes. People are too busy, too many responsibilities, too strung out and stressed out.

Because people suck. Plain and simple. Check this out...

http://ebaumsworld.com/2006/07/canceling-aol.html

It's a link to this poor guy who absolutely could not cancel AOL because of the customer service rep simply wouldn't do it.

I've had similiar problems to this guy when the Internet was but a 'toddler' back in the days of BBSes.

It's all about money. Money makes people suck. If they had a choice, "Be indifferent and get paid $10" or "Be nice and get paid $10"... they'd take the first one, because being nice requires extra effort for most people... and it's not like they're gettin' paid to go the extra mile.
