Hypocrisy is saying one thing and doing the opposite.

What does this have to do with Arabs or Muslims? Christians and others are just as hypocritical.

Hypocrisy is talking one way and acting a different way, like the Christian crusaders who preach peace, then make war. The solution is to know that words don't really mean anything.
And that has some very far-reaching effects, now doesn't it?
But still, if words are lies, then any words can be lies and then we would have to question our whole world of words if our actions are in serious conflict with what our words say.

Hypocrisy is saying one thing and living like one believes something else. Me

Hypocrisy is the act of pretending to have morals or virtues that one does not truly possess or practice.

I never heard this applied to Arabs and Muslims, but, it may stem from 911 as Muslims are known to be a peaceful religion and this may have caused this accusation. I have heard it more with people who go to church.

Hypocricy is the act of saying "Do as I say, not as I do". It is the act of saying, "Do not drink to get drunk", but the speaker is later found drunk without remorse. However, it does not encompass "attempt to change" or "have since changed"... ie IMHO it is not hypocritical to say "Smoking is bad" while you're trying to quit (since it shows that you too accept that smoking is bad, and are trying to set the example), or "I have regretted the actions of my past shoplifting, and I don't want you going down the same path I once did" (as that shows you know shoplifting is bad, and are warning others out of experience).

All of mankind is hypocritical to some extent.

But what is interesting, is that Islam attempts to portray itself as a peacable religion, yet the moment you say it's not, they are up in arms and blowing up your buildings, insisting they are peaceful (but calling for your downfall).

Consider the Pope's comment the other day, quoting from a Byzantine emperor, saying that, in essence, "Muhammed promoted evil and inhumane acts, such as spreading his teachings via the sword"... many Muslims demanded an apology, while a few, blew up Churches. Ironic that they preach "We are peaceful", and then blow up Churches when you say they aren't.

That is hypocricy.

"Practise what you preach" is generally considered a good way to avoid being branded with the label of hypocrite.
People tend to accuse Muslims of hypocrisy because they see so much injustice in the Islamic world that never seems to be attacked or condemned with anywhere near the same ferocity as the west is for all its perceived evils.
One example being, western countries are accused of being immoral because women are able to walk around with their bodies exposed, but in Islamic culture it's okay to beat a woman
or stone her until the contents of her head are exposed.

Saying one thing and doing another. The Muslims are hypocrites because they claim to be lovers of peace, yet their actions prove otherwise.
