Tapping is still going on. An electricion was working on wires on the post outside of my house and my neighbors . He did not ask to enter my yard while I was out there and he went into the neightbors yard whithout knocking on their door. He hesitated when he saw me ,but continued and did not say a word. I watched and then I called all of the utilites to inquire if they were working out there. NO! My husband and I are concerned that it may be wire tapping. Isn't that illegal now? I know it sounds paranoid!!!!

so, open your receiver...or change phones..or call the telephone company and have it checked..and the police...he may be casing your houses for robberies when you are not home...that was done to me several years ago...also have to watch out for the people who sit there and use a tool to monitor and pick up your conversations on your portable phone...that is how my conversations were monitored to find out when i was home...

It may not be the government, but if you have alot of assets and it shows, maybe if you have a large house, fancy car, expensive clothes and jewlery, a would be robber could very well tap your lines from the poles to find out when you may or may not be home. If none of your utility companies sent the guy out, then you should really call the police department and ask what you should do. I hope you got a plate number.

And just why would they have any need to be suspicious enough to tap your wires? If they had wanted a wire tap they do can that from the central office and they sure wouldn't send an electrician to do it. FYI, the utility pole is on the easement of the property and they have a right to be there, whether its in your backyard or not.

An electrician is not needed to tap lines. It can be done remotely. You're being paranoid.
You can tell when your line is tapped. It will either be really staticky, or there will be an echo. Sometimes you can hear a clicking. Believe me, our lines are tapped over here, especially when we're speaking to anyone in another country.

Just because you're paranoid and think everyone is out to get you does not mean they are not...

Relax, unless you are planning the overthrow of the government.

If my phone were tapped, the tapper would get some great recipes and jokes - and some inside information of the black sheep of my family.

Most countries have wire tapping but require a court order to proceed.

Pick up your phone. If you hear a click or a longer-than-usual pause before the dial tone, you may be tapped.
Do not discuss this with your neighbors! Maybe they are bad guys and the law is after them.

Do you have secrets? If you do don't tell them on the phone! Does it make much difference anymore considering how many homes have wireless stuff and no encryption?? How hard can it be to hear what we are all talking about. If the gov wants to listen to me complain about my hemorrhoids to my aged mother and listen to her talk about her constipation, I say, listen up and pay attention! You might need to know how to care for your aged mother someday, or your roids might be itching right now!

Seriously, they would have to be just plain BORED to death, would they NOT? I hope they do tap, all they want...I will just keep talking about the grosses things I can think of...and NEVER speak one serious word on the phone AGAIN. Make them listen to be bored to death!

If they wanted to wiretap you, they wouldnt have to come all the way out to your house to do it. They can go into the utility box on the street or even back at the phone company.

Yes, it sounds totally paranoid. However if you discontinue your terrorist phone conversations, stop dealing drugs over the phone and quit making prank phone calls to the CIA, you shouldn't have as much to worry about.
