Well if you actually took the time to do the research instead of ask unfounded questions you would realize that the police who viewed the evidence, being the footage said that Steve did not agitate or harass the stingray!!
His Manager also said that " Steve swum over the stingray and the barb came up hit him right here ( and he was gone )"

Was it also necessary to post this twice?

It doesn't really matter. Like all creatures of the wild whether on land, sea, or air, the stingray's natural instinct is one of self-preservation. If it felt threatened it would react immediately. Whether Steve provoked it we may not find out but his mere presence was enough for the ray to react as it did with very unfortunate results.

Problem is that we tend to categorise wild creatures and although I'm sure Steve was well aware of the dangers, familiarity may have made him lose concentration for a few seconds with fatal results.

I remember not too long ago when a woman on a beach in Australia went to stroke a seal 'because ity looked cute'. Result: The seal defended itself by rearing up and bit her nose off.

i just think that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. he got himself into a risky situation by being on top of the stingray which must have triggered the stingray to do that to steve irwin, and people who say that the stingray was provoked are just looking for someone to blame. the way to know this for sure is if we see the tape of what happened. just never let the media or other people try to convince you on what to think because they dont know really. they are just basing it on what they've heard. one thing i do know is that when the stingray's barb pierced through him, he managed to pull it out of him immediately.

As long as his show's been on, my whole family, has been watching Steve & Terri, even before the kids.. I watched part of his Special, they did in his "Honor" of all his interviews, and times with the "Wild-life" and what Celebrities thought of him, the show made me cry, just like hearing about his death..I think Steve, had such a "Passion" for wild-life, that he just wanted to enjoy, that "Sting-Ray" just a little bit longer, and thats what killed him!! He did live, a little bit, on the "Edge" but, it was because of his LOVE, for wild-life.. He was asked, if he'd ever give up doing his cause for wild-life.. His response, was "Yes, only when my children are grown, and take-up, everything I do and have done, then and only then will I give this up!! And he cried, because he loved what he did so much!! And the "Beauty" in his death, is that he died, doing what he loved the Most!!! And we still get to watch his reruns, and his children can learn, from watching Daddy's reruns.. And if they loved, him 1/2 as much, which I know they loved him more, then we did, they will want to live out his dream, for his causes!! I will miss him, so much, and so will my kids! He had so much Love and integrity, for life, and family and Animals!!!! He will always be "Remembered!!" And never forgotten!! We All MIss you Steve Irwin!!! I hope there are lots of animals in Heaven, because we all know thats where he is!!

Stingray's do not attack people unless they fear for there lives In this case Irwin held on to the stingrays tail and with a cameraman in front of them the creature felt threatened and went into attack. Irwin should have known the consequence's of what he was doing

I think if he had used sun cream it would never had happened, as offers protection against all rays! Seriously, he must have provoked it, as they are very gentle creatures by all accounts, but I dont think he would have meaned to harm it, it was a freak accident the barb just went into a fatal part of his body.

Accident. He would have survived a sting any where else. Steve always cautioned that these were wild animals. For the privilege of just interacting with these animals, you must also accept the consequences. Steve did.

In my opinion, Steve loved animals so much that he lost contact with reality. He was no longer able to tell the exact line dividing the wild and the civilized world.

I am sure no one would like someone to be proding them with a shitty stick and swarming all around you taking pictures.. So the stingray might have become a wee bit pissed off.. I am sure though Steve was not too intrusive ..it just wasnt his lucky day.

Of course he provoked it! Stingrays are peaceful creatures, they don't attack unless they are very afraid. He was always jumping on animals and wrestling with them.
