They are forcing anybody who want's to sell into declaring themselves a business , so if you want to sell something worth £1 you must sell it for at least £3 to make about 30p profit !

Their selling advertisement space so half of what you look at isn't actually for sale ,

Talk about opening yourself up for competition , how long do you think they'll last when an intelligent person opens a similar site ?

I have been an E bay seller for just over a year and have gained a feedback score from selling of 1200 in this time. I Bl@0dy hate them. The subtle price increases in fee's for sellers, always tweaking and changing rules for the what would seem to any sane person to be for the worse, and their treatment of people when things go wrong is outragous and not what they promised.

They really hacked me off when they changed the shop listing fee structure so shops would get less exposure ( ie forcing everyone to sell more at the higher auction listing fee rate) Then had the audacity to inform me in a e mail where they tried to make it sound like they were doing me a favour!!!!! Sod's. If they just said, "were putting the prices up, this is so we can screw a few more pennies out of you" then at least I cpould respect their honesty. Whats more they managed to time this to coincide exactly with the post prices going up (U.K) so yeah selling something for a £1 any more is an act of charity. I'm getting out an if anyone wants to set up another site, I'm there, a;though E bay won't let that happen, they'll just bully it out the market place or buy it out like they have already done with their competitors world wide.

There have been major problems with Ebay for years, but nobody has taken over and I don't know if anyone else will, it would be too hard to switch everyone. I would switch in a second. Another problem i have is there rating process. I dont think a seller should be able to leaver negative feedback for a buyer if they have already received their feedback from the buyer. This causes so many people not to leave true negative feedback because of fear of getting negative feedback themselves.

Yes eBay have lost the plot. I traded on there for a year but had to give up a couple of months ago because of the huge fees and also because they pulled 4 of my items within a week for no obvious reason. Plus about 50 of us bought what turned out to be a scam and altho eBay said they ruled on our favour and seller covered by protection, not one of us got our money back

The problem is Inland Revenue are seroiusly looking at eBay.

People who sell privatley dont pay/declare the VAT and you only have to watch telly where people are boasting i gave up work and earn a fortune on eBay.

These people probably dont pay tax or vat.

It used to be good but there are to many cons on there now

Yes - I think lack of competition has meant they have a monopoly position and therefore feel they can charge what they like.

I hear Microsoft are developing a similar 'auction' concept - the sooner the better.

I never liked eBay they've made greed even more acceptable rather than the despicable trait it is
people will auction anything on it
people always want something for nothing but there's always a cost

I haven't seen that. I recently signed up to sell some things on eBay and am sending out my first items today. I don't recall ticking any box that said I was agreeing to that.
