Dogs have what is called a "tie" when they mate because there is a bulb of tissue in the middle of a dog's penis that swells in reaciton to being inserted into a *****'s vagina.

The vagina also contracts when this happens joining the two together while the dog ejaculates for about ten minutes. This ensures that the sperm will stay in the ***** long enough to make it up into the uterus to fertilize her eggs, otherwise, she would just lick herself clean and no sperm would make the whole journey. When the dog is done delivering sperm, the two animals' swellings go down and they slip apart.

If two dogs tie, odds are you will get puppies... without a tie the chances are quite slim.

You should never try to pull two tied dogs apart as it may harm them and cause severe hemmoraging.
