I just moved into my a condo and the unit has a FE washing machine, i have used it a couple of times without any issues but every now and then the machine doesn't drain its water after the washing cycle is complete. I'm trying to figure out why and weather I should call in someone to take a look at it.

I had problems with loose change somehow getting into the drain pump. If the pump dosen't work within a set amount of time, the washer goes into an error mode. at that point, the drain pump needs to be cleaned out. I've got a Maytag, and the pump is pretty easy to get to and service. It is at the bottom of the washer, accessable through the rear panel.

Maybe it is going off balance this will cause it not to drain properly, to find out stay near it all thru the cycles, if it starts bumbing and making a loud noise stop it pull everything out and put back in one item at a time evenly and start it back up. If thats not it . . . . . sorry

Probably the drain pipe is plugged. Do a search on the model # and brand of washer. You'll probably find a repair section with detailed info.

Check the connector that drains the water, it may be clogged. Mine was the opposite, it was taking a great deal to fill up and that was the reason, the connection was clogged. I removed the wire mesh that was clogged.

check the pump......

I use the Readers Digest fix-it yourself home repair/appliance repair series of books. I found mine at a used book store. The books have paid for themselves many times over. They include troubleshooting checklists for all sorts of appliance issues.
