Don't give us much info to really give you a precise answer > so my answers are going to be very generic
Firstly do a ATX reset - remove the power cable from the back of the computer - press ina hold in the power button for 30 secounds - this will release any static electricity that may have built up on the mobo
also remove anything that may be plugged into your computer - ie internet printer etc - you pc maybe trying to boot of these
try powering up again
When you turn the computer on - when the splash screen comes up - it may tell you a key to press to enter BIOS - CMOS or setup - usually the escape / del / f1 or f2 keys
This should take you to the bios or cmos setup page - now you need to see if you can see you hard drive - as there are so many different bios's out there impossible for me to tell you where it will be -
usually next to the primary ide channel - if it is not shown then you have a harddrive error
Next thing to do is to get a bootable disk to check you HDD for errors and also a memory check and also haves a few good dos programs on it - use the link below to download a generic PB boot cd rom - use the menus for advanced tools and the ms hdd check
if this fails then your HDD has failed

Well check all of the power cables and the power supply inside your CPU, If all these are ok and computer is showing red or green light on the front of your CPU when u start it then it will finally the problem with ur windows startup file. But don't worry u can repair it, for this u must have another PC with an internet connection.
Now go to microsoft.com and try their for windows startup problem. I will finally sure that u will get an answer from them otherwise they will give you the windows startup file which u can write on a disc and then boot ur PC from the disc and then copy the files after ur computer has started

Does anything happen when u try to boot it? The last computer i worked on would start and turn off, I found out it was the power button that was faulty after switching Harddrives, power supply and even the Mother Board! More info would be helpfull.
I would give you a link to a free online tech forum, but yahoo pulled my other account because I posted the link to a Google supported site too many times. Good luck

You need to give more information, but try the following.
Is there a power cut?
Is it plugged in?
Have you checked all of the fuses? The mains leads and in your house hold fuse panel.
When you switch it on, do you see any activity on the computer screen?
Is the screen switched on?
How old is the machine? Computers don't last forever, they have moving parts that will wear out.

Sounds to me like a software error.
Try re-installing Windows / Unix on it. Boot up from the install CD (you may have to change the Boot Priority in the BIOS Setup)
