urine sample on paper strip is almost 100 % accurate
> check 4 expiry date of strip + minimum 7 days after ovulation !
False negative readings can occur when testing is done too early. Quantitative blood tests and the most sensitive urine tests usually detect hCG shortly after implantation, which can occur anywhere from 6 to 12 days after ovulation. Beta hCG levels rise exponentially in the first two months or so of pregnancy so the earlier the test is performed, the higher the chance of a false negative result. Less sensitive urine tests and qualitative blood tests may not detect pregnancy until three or four days after implantation. Menstruation occurs on average 14 days after ovulation, so the likelihood of a false negative is low once a menstrual period is late.

I never could get First Response to show up with any of my pregnancies. I used Answer and Fact Plus, both of which said yes after many many many no's from First Response. I even did one today, and it still says no, but I'm 4 days late and have a dr.'s appt. I don't like them personally, but it's all about your hormones, some tests work better for different people. My reccommendation would be to use the Answer brand, it's made by the same people as First Response but for me has proven to be more accurate. Good luck!

ALL pregnany tests detect a hormone called HCG which is ONLY produced by the body during pregnancy (or some different fertility treatments if someone is taking homones). I would wait 1-2 weeks and test again. Remember that 'stressing' about your period most always causes it to be late, and that you are ok :) Next time though, be aware, if you don't want to be pregnant, then make sure you take care of it BEFORE you do the deed :) Smile... accidents happen - but then can come baby ;)

I don't know about that brand. I have used Clear Blue Easy with my first pregnancy and the Dollar General brand with my second. I have been told by doctors that HPT's are just as accurate as the doctors test. Wait a few days and try again. If it still says negative then you probably aren't pg.

Yes, but not that soon. That was a long time ago though. They are very acurate. Try again in two weeks if you don't start by then.
