My past is totally dodgy, from birth to the present, full of abuse, prostitution and drugs. Are people tired of this, now it seems to be the norm.

It depends. There are some biographies of unknown people which are respected as great works of literature. Anne Frank comes to mind. for instance. But I think that people read the autobiography of Anne Frank not just for the fact that it's a sad story but also because it shows the nobility that is possible in humans, as well as gives important insider information about an important time in history. If you feel that your story speaks more to people about something good about people in general, or some information that all people need to know, then it might be useful. Otherwise, if it's just another story that's interesting for its shock value, we get enough of that on the news.

There does seem to be a lot of people writing about there own experiences these days but the reason for this is that's what people want to read.
Its very nice to know Jade goody is opening a salon but she is already famous for not really doing alot. Your life story sounds intriguing and I only know Five words worth of a book. This is because you are a real person with real experiences that real people can learn from and feel normal that they are not the only people with those experiences.
I found the books by Dave pelzer an inspiration because i have had more my fair share of crap to put up with and his experiences put mine into perspective and gave me the courage to get up and do something. wasn't he a nobody, so am i but look at what were doing for each other through writing!

gotta see how many junk i read per day!!
besides, i read "go ask alice" who is a girl who had a weird life...
i suppose urs will be a good book to read.

i like reading about other peoples lives so go for it and send your writing to a publisher

Yeah its already been done, its boring. You would have to send a chapter or two to a publishing house they would decide.

Well each story has unique details that define it and if you write well people might actually buy what you write!

perhaps, if your PRESENT is one of overcoming, and victory and inner healing, than you could share about it, but it is important to the reader to understand your past too.
