Have you listened to Kind of Blue by Miles Davis? Not exactly modern but one of the best jazz albums of all time.

there aren't any. try this though. gather a bunch of friends, and some musical instruments, a guitar, piano, drums, and a sax will do. now have everyone play something completely different. wow! you've created your own modern jazz! good job

how modern? - Adams Apple by Wanye Shorter is a fantastic album it was modern when it was released.
