I always people what a remote control is called in their house and I've never met anyone who calls it a remote control. (In my house it's called a bazazar).

We call the remote control the "buttons" in our house, it is sometimes known as the "remote" but never the "remote control".

Yeah, I'm afraid I call it the remote control. It doesn't require that much more effort to add the second word. To call it the remote is a little surreal if you think about it.

We call it "the remote". When our son was young he called it a "papeem", and we have never, ever figured out why. You know how you can usually figure out a kid's word by something else that sounds like it, or what he thinks it is - but this one has stumped us for years and years. We've decoded everything else through the years, but never this one. Guess it will be a family mystery! And he was too young, he doesn't remember...

We just call ours either Cable Remote, DVD Remote, Video Remote etc.

It used to be the clicker when we first had a remote control telly years ago - cos it just used to click and go through the channels one by one. Its now called the telly gadget in our house.
