1) A "fried" processor can't prevent anything from coming on, when the power button is pushed. 2) Besides the motherboard going bad (not likely, in this instance), and the power supply going bad (much more likely), have you checked the switch on the back of the power supply? Almost all ATX power supplies have a switch.

This is actually common on ATX power supplies, Sometimes you can unplug the power cord from the back for about 10 minutes then plug it back in and it will work again for a while.
The best thing to do is replace the power supply with one that is a more suitable size (the ones that ship with most name brands are a bit on the week side) if the Power supply is a Micro power supply and not a full size ATX power supply then it would be best to change the case and power supply since you can get both for less than replacing that power supply.
All of the components in that machine will transfer to a standard case the only thing that might be out of place could be the floppy drive if it doesn't have a face plate but you can look for a case that has the floppy bay with just a slot to the outside which will correct that problem.

hey, well since it doesn't seem like you can spot out some of the very basic problems from lack of knowledge chances are you probubly have viruses anyway. Go download adaware se, and spybot search and destry and get ahold of mcafee virus scan, quick clean, and firewall which you can buy 3pk at office max for bout 35bucks.
But to answer your question, sounds like a bad power supply. Look into a new power supply inside your computer. Usually if a computer has been running a kinda slowly lately, or lags or freezes these can be some little hints of bad power supply. I have also heard that the way they work is either they can work one day, and then just quit the next. So look into that and sure youll be back online. Good luck

Very possibly a busted PSU, or a dead motherboard. I suffered the same problem with a Gigabyte MOBO. If you have a voltage checker, you can text the PSU, to see if its still working.
Below is an article:

Please use caution when doing this. I do not endorse this unless you are competent with using a voltage tester.
Once tested if the PSU is OK, then it is probably your Motherboard. (Possibly a burned out processor?)
But if the processor is fried, then there's usually a black mark/burn mark, under the arctic silver.

there is NO virus that will cause this to happen. I would agree with your needing a new power supply, as I am sure you did check to make sure the power cord is plugged into the power supply and wall outlet....right?
