Remember that pregnancy tests check for the existence of a specific hormone in your blood, and your body only starts creating that hormone when conception occurs. Now the tests aren't fail-safe, so it's possible that sometimes (rarely) the second line will appear even though your body is NOT creating that hormone... but it's rare. A false negative (where you are producing the hormone but in too low quantities for the test to pick up yet) is far more common.
Go to the doctor for a blood test - they're MUCH more accurate, and can tell you the level of the hormone in your blood (not just if it's present of not).
The other time when a "false" positive occurs, of course, is if you miscarry a few days after taking the test.

Oh hon you are still having trouble with this. Call your dr when they open and have this confirmed. Just say I had a positive pregnacy test and I'd like a confirmation. Some women can have no signs or lots of signs or just a few hints. It's ok if you don't "feel" pregnant. Some women dont' feel pregnant til they actually give birth. Every woman is different. Now you have a positive. Go to the dr or some places do this for free. WIC is a good thing if you are pregnant. They will do the tests then give you coupons for milk, peanut butter, juice, and cheese and eggs. When you have baby you can get formula coupons until they are a year old then it goes back to the milk, eggs coupons til they are 5. Wonderful program helping lots of Women, Infant, and Children ( WIC) it's available in almost every state. Good luck.

Nope. You cannot get a false positive. The test looks for a certain hormone that you can only produce when you're pregnant. If you get a false negative, it may have been too soon or taken at the end of the day when your urine has been diluted too much.

I have heard of people testing positive, w/o hormones but very rarely. You could be pregnant, with out any symptoms. Go to the doctor. They will probably do a preg test and maybe a sonogram.

Take the test, if its says positive its time to go see a doctor. There can be false positives but its not worth the risk.

yes a pregnancy test can be wrong either way. The best way is to go to the doctors for a blood test. When a blood test is done they test your blood for the pregnancy hormone and that is the best way to be sure. Good luck
