absolutely - my grandfather is 85 and still driving and I would not dare step in the car with him.

I dont think that needs to be a maximum age as such, but i think that after a certain age, you should need to be re-tested every year!

I agree with John..EVERYONE should be retested on a regular basis.I've seen far more bad drivers that are young than old.The only reason that people get all worked up about this is that the media loves to point out when an elderly driver makes a mistake,if a young driver did the same thing(and they do)you don't hear about it.My father is 86,still driving and hadn't had an accident his entire life until two years ago when a young woman on a cell phone hit HIM.Granted,as we age our reflexes aren't as sharp, but most elderly drivers I know drive more defensively because of this.I would rather be driving behind an elderly driver going the speed limit than have some young idiot up my butt driving like a maniac.

I do think older people should have to prove they are really able to drive. I've stopped getting into cars with some older folks, because I know they are not safe. Maybe higher insurance rates after a certain age like over 70 would stop some from driving. Unfortunately aging seems to increase stubbornness.

Personally, I think that everyone, 16 - 1000 should be retested on a regular basis. If you don't pass, you lose your license. This would keep the elderly drivers that are too impaired from driving, and may get rid of a few of the other idiot drivers...

Just like new teen drivers have limitations on their license , the elderly should , too . I don't think you can generalize with all older drivers because most are alert & responsible .

No. But "adults" who behave like spoiled children-go hooting the hole time-should be banned from driving.

It's completely unnecessary. There is a medical check regularly, isn't there?
