Well, I imagine that publishers get 100's of manuscripts a day. Everyone wants to be published. Very few make it. But most publishers will give it the time they need to decide if it's good or not. Plus, often more than one person will read it and will come up with a consensus on whether they will go with it. Then, there may be a hold up in an administrative person contacting you. Just be patient. No news is often good news.

It's true that publisher's receive an unheard of amount of manuscripts every day. Half of them are never even read at all. Also, if your manuscript was submitted through an agent, perhaps they are discussing it within the company, but if it was unsolicited, it may be at the bottom of the pile where it will stay.
