Hey, I'm from AL. I can't think of anything in particular to ask about the land just because it's in AL. I would ask these things no matter where the land is:
How much does it cost per acre?
Can you name all of the previous owners?
Are there any fresh water springs on the land?
Where are the property lines?
Have any wells been dug on the property?
The questions also should obtain information that you seek for the purpose of the property. Are you using it to build a house? You may want to check how close it is to a noisy road. Are you building a business? What is public access like? Are you going to farm the land? How is the soil?
Stuff like that.

are water and sewage services already available? If not, how long till it is expected? Also, is the road paved? How near to nearest road.

Stuff like that if it is in the country.

I'm not insulting Alabama; much of the countryside is lovely, partly because it is undeveloped.

OH yes - is the land in an area that floods?
What has been the previous use of the land? (farm land may still have DDT from 30 years ago)

beware of red ants.

Most important....does the land perk? If they don't know make sure you ask for a perk test. If you see a lot of scrub pine trees, it means there is a lot of rock on the land.
