Here are a couple of websites that will tell you the benefits of synthetic oil and will seperate fact from fiction where the use of synthetic oil is concerned. I use synthetic oil in all my cars. The only thing it hurts is the wallet, as synthetic oil is more expensive.

Synthetic oil is so slippery, you can't even use it to break in a brand new engine. Here is the deal with synthetic causing leaks. If you have a very high mileage engine, with marginal seals, some leakage may occur. This is because the sludge that was built up around the seals with conventional oil, will be washed away with the extra cleaning agents in the synthetic oil.

You need to provide to us the year of the car. Changing to Synthetic Oil usually will not cause any problem but you might want to check with your car's manual or the dealership. And if you are going to change to Synthetic Oil, I would like to recommend Mobil1 Oil, it's without a doubt the best in the market

Syn oil flows faster in cold conditons. But if your engine uses oil it will also use more on synthetic. You still need to change your oil, as it will still get dirty. If you switch dont worry about switching back to regular oil. Last i checked engines dont remember what oil they had in them.

Once you switch I believe you have to keep using synthetic every oil change.

Synthetic oil doesn't change viscosity and you can let it go longer between changes.
