Stop using alcoholic listerine, it dries your mouth out and worsens your breath because it usually doesn't get all the bacteria. The one's left over will cause the smell. Use Tri-Oral Rinse and a Tongue scraper consistantly for two weeks and the smell will be gone. Unless you have a health or medical condition this process will eliminate bad breath, hands down, no exception.

Thanks for your courage. Since you are brave, I'll be brave too. For all my adult life, breath odor has been a downfall. My sick-sick joke to myself is "As the Elephant Man suffered from visual, I suffer from olfactory." Get it? People were repulsed when they saw the Elephant man. They are repulsed when they smell me. (Try Google-ing Elephant Man to learn more about John Merrick.)
Back to the subject...I tried brushing the tongue, then soaking the mouth in Listerine. I don't think it works. Since we can't smell ourselves, we can only observe the reactions of folks when we talk to them. Sometimes I lie awake nights thinking about the problem. I'm going to try some of the things that were said to you. Good luck. I am among the few who understand your problem. Many people think you fail at oral hygiene. I know better. In fact, I wish it were that simple.

Did u brush ur tongue? Most smells comes from the gum as well as ur tongue.
Try to eat chewing gum. It will reduce ur bad breath. Use Listerine to wash it after brushing. Floss after eating. Leftover stuff stuck in between ur teeth will turn out bad too.
Hope it helps u too!

I have had bad beath for years, too. However, i found that by taking vitagen or yakult or the likes which contain bacteria which is beneficial to my digestive system help and actually eliminates my bad breath problem provided i take them regularly (1 bottle in 2 days). I also found out that by skipping meals and not having balance meals causes bad breath too. I also noticed that when i suffer from constipation my bad breath problem tends to arise too. Maybe you could try taking vitagen too, it helped me, and i hope you'll overcome your problem.

If this were a short-term problem I'd suggest mints or gum, but decades? I'd have to agree with the first answer, it sounds like a chronic problem as opposed to a stress-related issue. (non-professional opinion, if I were a doctor I wouldn't be posting answers on Yahoo!) :-)

I too suffer. Floss, scrub, brush tounge, but that isn't it. I also gargle with listerine that kills it for a bit, but 3 things: if you skip meals and liquids your "key-tones" flare up and #2 you could have sinus problems & allergys, try Flonase &/or Claritin from your doctor. #3 mask it with cherry cough drops.

Maybe if you chew parsley and watch what you eat, lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, stay away from meat for a while a see if this fixes it

Flossing and tongue cleaning are a good one, but if you eat a lot of spicey food that won't help.Smints are ok to keep your breath fresh.
