Knowledge of the English language is the most important thing. A typical high school load will include English, Math, History/Social Studies, and Science.
For college, about 1/3 to 1/2 of your units will be "general education" or a broad distribution of liberal arts classes. Another 1/3 or so will be in a "major" such as business, computer science, English, history, etc. Depending on the college and major you will have some electives, ranging from 2-3 classes to 1/3 of your total course load.
Academically, you will probably be prepared for American schools, since most Developed nations have superior educational systems.
