There are 3 ways:
(1) Right click My Computer -> Manage -> Local Users & Groups, then put the computer on users. But when you're using WinXP, you will see this computer name when you log on windows. This one is good if you're using Windows 2000.
(2) Install Zone Alarm, then put on FIREWALL tab the IP of the computer you want to allow to view. In this way only computers stated on ZoneAlarm can access your shared folder on your computer.
(3) When you share a folder, put name on "Share This folder on the Network" with $ sign on it: example: myFolder$, instead of myFolder. And when you browse computer in Windows Explorer: \\computer1, you cannot see the folder. You have to browse like: \\computer1\myFolder$

This third way is secret!

I think it is not possible in workgroup network to avoid otheres from seeing the folder. but you can avoid others from accessing it assigning a password to it.
