hello

yes you can write Data on DVD ,but what your need is nero7.2 or sonic, mydvd
coz with windows xp ,writer ,it can not read the dvd(r) or the dvd(rw), now to just write ,date on to dvd ,all you need to use is ,dvd(r) or dvd(rw) cd's, but you will need to have sonic mydvd or nero 7,2,burning software, let me point out to you , if you dont know much about writing data to a dvd(r) or dvd( rw) ,cd then your be better off using , sonic my dvd ,that is more easy to use then nero 7.2 ,nero is for the more advanced user , where as sonic my dvd is for the less advanceds user ,, the website for ,sonic my dvd & nero7,2,

sonic mydvd ,website

http://www.sonic.com/products/Consumer/MyDVD/default.aspx?o_e25=Paid%20Search&ovmkt=3LDR8TH6ABTN97F4E8E70GTNE0&OVRAW=sonic%20my%20dvd&OVKEY=sonic%20my%20dvd&OVMTC=standard

nero 7,2 .website ,remember nero 7,2 is for a advanceds user

Of course but you need something like a CD-ROM that it's name is a DVD Burner, There are two types of DVDs +R and -R DVDS and the DVD Burner writes only on one type, the companies are having huge problems with these two types.. i advise you not to buy a dvd burner now, not until blue rays are out.

How do you imagine it gets there? Yeah we can write to a DVD. I do it about a dozen times a day at work. Most DVD's you have are fixed or non-writable and you cannot put new information on them but the technology isn't radically different from CDs in most respects.

Yes. I would use a permanent marker to write 'Data' on the DVD. But as recommened please use soft-tip pens.
You could even write an paragraph on it.
I am okay with 2 points on this question.

it is going to instruct "make records dvd" not "make records disk". if not pick suggestions "dvd",."cd" from above dropdown checklist or tabs. And one greater danger is examine that u stored "dvd disk" or "cd disk" interior the tension tray. by potential of ur question i'm valuable u chosen "Make records disc" the incorrect decision.
