someone mentioned lift doors (:-))... they close because they have no fuzzy logic sensor as he said. But me stopping the lift from closing is like an organic sensor kicking in. It's built in. The door ain't gonna hurt me and it means either me or someone else catches the lift. So i might as well stop it and use the lifts inability to ignore it's programming. And still some don't appreciate it. Or is it just they can't deal with the fact their brains are stuck in one or the other mode?

So, while you're messin' about with lift doors on the 2nd floor and I'm standing around like a spare prick in a wedding on the 3rd, common sense would be to take the stairs, ain't nothing fuzzy about that.

fuzzy logic
n. A form of algebra employing a range of values from “true” to “false” that is used in decision-making with imprecise data, as in artificial intelligence systems.

common sense
n. Sound judgment not based on specialized knowledge; native good judgment.

The easy asnwer is they are simular but not the same. Often using Fuzzy Logic will give you the same advice as Common sense but that's just because they're complimentary. If common sense dictates that the answer would more likely be 1 than 0 than 1 is the assumption and all the rest is math. Co-incentally if the asnwer is 1 often enough and circumstance seem to be about the same, more than likely the answer will be 1 again. ultimately one is a Mathmatic Logic while the other is a historic one.

Common sense is refined wisdom, in simple application, doing things in a way which looks too simple but requires better wisdom.
Fuzzy logic is just logic, in impure form, not going to extreme refinement !
This should apply to the same 'lift' example !
Hope the doors of inner lift can be effectively forced open to afford one more passenger !

the complexity lies in the information, both cogent and non-cogent that our brain processes, factoring in our background, education, and social status. the non-complexity of feelings and emotions can and will manifest by our more primitive animal instinct..

which is common sense and which is fuzzy logic?

which would be more or less complex-i am hungry? or i must have that food?

Nope. Common sense has eleven letters, fuzzy logic only has ten. Plus not only that, they're all different except two. If you don't believe me ask Vanna. Dude!
