According to the dictionary, to "foist" means to impose (something or someone unwanted) upon another by coercion or trickery. So sometimes we are exposed to commercials in certain situations where we are forced to view them when, if given a choice, we would not have to look at them. An example on the internet would be when a "pop-up" ad appears in a box on our screen, trying to sell you something and covering up what we were looking at, and we have to close it if we don't want to view it.
