I always thought it was Mercedes Benz. Established in 1871, Benz & Cie. was the most important of several companies founded by Karl Benz. DMG was founded by Gottlieb Daimler and his partner Wilhelm Maybach in 1890, but Daimler died in 1900 and Maybach left DMG in 1907, by which time the two companies were rivals. In 1924, owing to economic necessity after World War One, they entered into an "Agreement of Mutual Interest" (valid until the year 2000), however, this initial agreement still allowed each company to manufacture and sell their products under their original brand names. It was only after the 1926 official merger, that the brand Mercedes-Benz was created and used.
Mercedes-Benz is the brand name applied to the models of one of the premier automotive manufacturers in the world and, because of its tie to Karl Benz, it is also the name of the world's oldest continuously produced automobile line. In 1926 when the new company, Daimler-Benz was established through merger, a new logo also was created that would include a symbol for each and integrate the names of the two former companies. A three-pointed star had been designed by Gottlieb Daimler, to show the ability of his motors for land, air, and sea use. This star first appeared on a DMG model in 1909, so it was chosen for the new logo. However the brand name Daimler was compromised after the death of Daimler in 1900, and allowed to be used on other automobiles, so the name of its seminal Mercedes model was chosen for the DMG portion of the logo. The traditional laurel symbol of Karl Benz was added along with his name to complete the new logo. The logo with a plain ring, as seen today, was not used until 1937.
Mercedes-Benz automobiles have introduced— both in the past and present — many technological and safety features (see details below). It was in 1998, when Daimler-Benz and Chrysler agreed to combine their businesses — known as the "merger of equals", that a new entity, DaimlerChrysler AG was created.

Oldsmobile is the A most important factor to GM success. I have owned 6 Olds lets remember 1st US auto maker to offer front wheel drive ( Toronado) still today Gm's most productive Horsepower to torque ratings that all other gm models have still yet to achieve I have owned 2- 1970 442 W30 455 Ram-Air with a factory rating of 375 hp with over 500 ft pounds of torque and this was achieved in the 70's also 72 442 4speed 72 Cutlass Supreme and 2 pride and joys i have now 1984 Hurst/Olds with a 307 that produced 185hp with over 300 ft pounds of torque more hp than the last year of the corvette stingray with a chevy 350 lead developer of the RamRod motor which we now no as the chevt 383 fast burn. I say goodbye buick and bring back my Oldsmobile. And yes they had prob. the MOST impact in the development and engineering of GM products!!! And to smooth- must be a chevy man or mabe the worst FORD!!! I will line my 455 up against your 454 and show you the MEANING of hole-shot!!!!! even the mighty LS7 could not reach the torque of 507 ft pounds and the Viper todat V-10 barely gets the 500 rating with fuel ingetion and the knowledge of today IF olds were to be reborn and applied what we know now i believe they could easily reach the mid 600's hp and blow away the mighty Cobra and Corvetees of today!!

I considered olds a puppet company. They were cool back in the day(pre 60's), but what had they done in the past 15-20 years. I can't think of a blander, old person car than an olds. To all the purists that are grinding their teeth, let me say i think one of the coolest cars of all time is a 70 442!

Blame it on GM and their bland styling and bad engineering. I have a 1995 Olds Cutlass Supreme. Not exactly inspiring.
There were lots of cars before Henry Ford came along. Henry Ford only invented the assembly line, not the automobile! He just made them faster, not first.
