The United Kingdom consists of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Britain well that's not technically the correct term, the correct one would be Great Britain which is the informal term that means the same thing.
The Republic of Ireland doesn't fit in - its not part of the UK.

The United Kingdom (UK) Refers to the Union of the Kingdoms of England and Scotland plus the principality of Wales and the conquered territory of Northern Ireland.
Great Britain refers to the country in a geographical senes as well as a national one. Britain is an old word for the main island and Great Britain refers to all of them. Ireland is considered a seperate entity however.
Therefore England, Northern Ireland Scotland and Wales are all part of both in some sense.

The United Kingdom is a country that consists of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. In fact, the official name of the country is "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland."
Great Britain is the name of the island northwest of France and east of Ireland that consists of three somewhat autonomous regions: England, Wales and Scotland.
Therefore, England is part of Great Britain, which is part of the United Kingdom. The U.K. includes England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland are not countries but the United Kingdom is. The remaining portion of the island of Ireland (that which is not the U.K.'s Northern Ireland) is an independent country called the Republic of Ireland (Eire).

The UK as has previously been stated is the United Kingdom of Scotland, England (which includes the principality of Wales as they effectively annexed it in the 13th Century) and Northern Ireland.
Britain is the short name for an Island called Great Britain.
The British Isles consist of Great Britain, the island of Ireland and many thousands of smaller islands for example, the Isle of Man, the islands of the inner and outer hebrides e.g. Skye, Mull etc.
In international sports like athletics the team is usually Great Britain and Northern Ireland, technically speaking incorrect as it would exclude people from these myriad other islands.
