if they are not actually doing it then the penis gets positioned in a set place and as they take shots then clip them together you will never know, however it was brought to my attention in a recent interview i watched that a lot of stars are actually not faking the sex scenes they are in fact real.

Billy connelly answered this in one of his shows. He said the reason they can show full frontal scenes of the woman in a sex scene , but never the man,is simply because a woman can bluff the part easily but could you imagine if they really showed the males limp penis, --everyone would jump up and laugh as it would be limp.As for them controlling it, well it doesnt take much controlling when you have a large number of cameras and camera menall over, and around you, and at the same time you cant for one second take the time to think sex as you also have to get all of your lines right and everything that is writen in the script right. So really you dont own your own mind at the time.Their has been stories of occassional things happening in the early rehearsals of films, but its very rare.

Apparently it is very easy not to enjoy it, there is a room full of people and a director screaming "look as tho your enjoying it - for gods sake are you gay - have you never done a woman before" plus people spraying you with water to look like sweat etc etc.
I'm told they are just like filming any other scene, sometimes more embarrasing due to lack of clothes!!

There are many ways to simulate sex the least of which is called a body stocking. Generally it is a game of depth perception. You can't tell from the camera angle how close his penis it to her vagina both of which are not in the frame.

Skin coloured micro-undies to hide their modesty, and a room full of cameramen, soundmen, make-up artists, directors, set makers et al to dampen their ardour.
