GMail doesn't use folders but you can set a filter to tag all mail from a particular person automatically. The mail will still show in your inbox until it has been read but you can select to view only a particular tag, of course. The advantage of tags is that you can classify a particular mail in more than one way so it's more flexible than folders.

To learn how to set up automatic filters, go to Help and look under common tasks for Filters.

Yes, I do. I have actually started a pretty much daily chat with someone I met here on Y!A. He's really a great guy, and his mails are hilarious. I also enjoy getting mail from my contacts. What I don't like is the hate mail I sometimes get from people who don't like an answer I have given. You'd be surprised at how often that happens. However, if I am going to be open about my opinions, I think it is only fair that I make my email available--anything else would seem cowardly to me. So I deal with the haters when they write to me. It's just the cost of doing business, methinks.

This is what you have to do to achieve what you want. After logging in to you gmail account, 1) Click on Settings. 2) Click on Filters. 3) Click on Create a new Filter. 4) Specify the Filter Criteria. 5) Click Apply the label... and select the label you have created. 6) If you don't want the mails to show in your Inbox, click "Skip the Inbox (Archive it) 7) Click Create Filter
