One of my friends bought an HD TV and he said that it specifically said not to hook up a computer to it. Does anyone know why this would be? It seems if the computer has an HD output and the TV has an HD input then it should be fine. I'm looking at buying a big screen TV soon and want to keep this in mind when making a selection.

You can hook up your computer to a HD TV - though a good quality HDMI cabel -

Alot of the lastest tv have also have the DVI connection and Svideo

The only TV that your should not really us a computer through is a rear projection HD TV - the computer output can cause screen burn

But if it is a plasma or better yet a LCD you should be fine

Hope this helps

if your laptop has a DVI out connector you could connect with a HD television by way of a DVI to HDMI cable. in any different case, in case you have an analogue D-sub out you would be wanting a male-male cable yet your television would or won't have the connector. without understanding the television kind and the wonderful pc kind that is confusing to declare.

really? i've never heard of that. i'm looking forward to buying an hdtv, but if it won't work with my comp, it's totally useless!!.

i think it's not plug and play. 99% of the monitors out there are plug and play, so, i think it has to go with that
