It really depends on what instrument and type of music that the musician plays. For example, you wouldn't want to get a jazz musician symphonic concertos by Bach, nor would you get a rock guitarist a collection of country classics. The best thing to do would either be to ask the musician for specific gift ideas in your price range, or take the musician with you to their favorite music store and give them a price range to choose a gift from.

Because we tend to be a "picky" lot, your best bet would be a gift certificate at a local music store, or at one of the popular online musician supply sites.

You wouldn't believe the crap I've received over the years from well-meaning people. Unless you know the person REALLY well, either give a NON-music related gift, or stick with a gift certificate.

1.) Get him a gift as your friend and not as a musician
2.) If he plays guitar, get him a new accessory
3.) If you're shooting for something expensive, give him a new instrument
4.) Get him a music book of his favorite band
5.) Concert ticket
6.) Powerful prayers

God bless ya!

There are certain 'staples' that almost any instrument requires. If someone gave me one of those boxes full of different types of guitar picks, or if they knew my preference for strings, or if they bought a strap and did something extra to it themselves, any of that would be cool. Gift certificate probably safest tho, like above.

My know what would be the ultimate gift is to remember and pay attention to who he really idolizes and if there living take him to see them live / or if dead take him to one of there tribute museums and then to a place that plays his favorite music/
and finally at night get him a CD autographed by that one person he idolizes if dead eBay definitely has it on a record somewhere.
i know i know its a Good idea a little expensive but one that Will be always cherished and remembered
