Charlie and the Chocolate factory actually follows more of the book than the first adaptation of the film made with Gene Wilder.
The songs are original phrases from the book, If you have ever actually read either "Charlie and the chocolate factory" or "Charlie and the great glass elevator" you would understand Tim Burton's version of the movie......It's more surreal like the writing of Mr. Dahl

Read the book by Roald Dahl. The remake with Johnny Depp is a more accurate portrayal of the weirdness that is Willy Wonka; also like the book, focuses more on Charlie rather than Wonka (which the old film does).

It's Tim Burton sort of re making Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory, but actually going by the book instead of properly remaking it.

its all about a wonderful fantasy land with weird and wonderful characters.
each of the children has a story to tell and they all have a lesson to learn, there is a moral to be learn-ed in each of them....all except Charlie, he is the poorest and most simplest so he appreciates everything and doesn't take anything for granted. That's why Willie Wonka chooses him!

A children's story (original by Roald Dahl) that holds some interest and amusement for adults as well. Especially the cheeky asides.

it's about showing that you get nowhere in life being greedy, nasty, spoilt etc. It's a lesson to kids that if you are pleasant and work hard you can fulfil your dreams.
