Well, this question is more of a debate than anything.Personally,i find nothing wrong with what they do.That is them and they have the right to do what they wish. You dont have to believe like them to accept them.Today, there is more tolerance for gays and lesbians because more and more are coming out and making it known they are.Someone once said to me,"Everyone is against something, until it hits home. Then they have no choice but to accept it".It was a teacher of mines, and it was close to election time quite a few years back and she said, that gays. They are against it,to try to relate to more people.Well, when it hits home that say their son or daughter comes out and says they are gay or they are a lesbian then they really dont have a choice. They either turn their back on their child, which would look bad or they can accept it,and go against themselves saying it was right and now since it hit close to home they do.Its a debate any way you look at it.I find them just like you and I.Sexual preference does NOT make the person. You can have a friend who is gay,and you can have a friend who is straight both are your friends and you put the facts aside.By That I mean,if you are a true friend and true contributor to society, you will put all the facts of ones sexual preferences aside, and look at them for who they are and not judge them based on something that simple as their sexuality. We are all human,we all deserve to be accepted.I also do not know who gave anyone the right to judge another.

That's not so mucha gender issue as a preference issue. To adress the question, it depends on the tolerence of each person affect by the person/ people. Two of my best friends are lesbians and I love them. Their families accpet who they are, and their immediate community accpets them as well. We all work together and no one have a real problem. However, we live in a very liberal state, California, and not all American communities accept homosexuals. As you can see, it's a topic of great debate, presently. The Christian community is wholely anti-gay (that doesn't mean every Christian is. I'm Christian and have many gay/ lesbian friends). The South, as a communitive culture, is a very rigid section that doesn't like anything fighting their prinicples. The East coast is nearly as diverse, there being many pro and anti-gay and lesbian supporters. I believe it was Massachusetts that passed the first legal gay marriage and not three hundred miles down, the highest anti-gay, pro-Christian regime is sitting in the White House. So, my friend, as said, it depends on the culture and the type of people you get to know.

we've came a long way. The younger generation are much more tolerant than the older generation. Younger people have been exposed to more than the older generation because everything was done behind closed doors and you could or would loose your job, be ostracized and be made to feel like a freak. Today it's better, laws protect people and people are more accepting of people. But, you will always have people on the earth here in the USA and everyplace else on earth that hate people for any and all reasons. So, though it's better you still have to be careful about who you are around. Never go off with people you don't know, use your head and don't get in a position where you are alone with people that may hurt you....make sure when you are out you have a true friend with you and be careful, like all people should. God loves all people, he made us all and when someone hates any other human being, they are hating God. Good luck

Yes,for the most part lesbians & gays are accepted in America. They get treated the same way that anyone who my look out of the ordenary ~ such as a person who has hot pink hair, anyone with odd peirceing, someone who is taller than average, or shorter than average, or my have a noticable marking/birthmark, get treated. What I mean by this is that how minorities are treated depends on where they are & what types of people they are around.

In my opinion ~ People in larger cities tend to be more open minded about this type of thing more than folks from a small town.

I find they are mostly accepted, as long as they are not too open about their sexuality. The guys that act more-or-less normal around me but are gay, I can accept. Some of my friends and relatives are gay, and Im fine with that. They dont try to convert me.

As far as gay marriage goes, whatever makes ya happy, you know?

No, they are not accepted. Just like everyone else that is different in America they are shunned. America is too wrapped up in moral issues for people to try and accept other people that don't fit into their moral standards.

anyone doing something wrong is just a person involved in wrongdoing. a rapist says he can't help it, a child molester says he can't help it, they claim they were just born with this desire, well gay people also claim they cannot help it, but you know we are born with choices and self control. gays make such a big noise we think there are much more than there are. realistic estimates show only 2%- 4% of the entire population of the US is actually gay - they just make such a ruckus it seems like more people. their entire goal is to make everyone gay like them,

Some are shunned and some are accepted. it depends on where you live. My friend is gay and everyone loves him to death! I think we need to just accept it and let people live their lives. they are people too.
