will my sb5101 run and work with the ethernet and usb in use at the same time?

No it wont! You will have conflicts! You either use the usb port or the ethernet port to hook it up! It tells you that right in the manual!

RP he is talking about a modem! Not a wireless router!

Yes it will, and I'm guessing that you mean 2 different computers, you should be able to use the ethernet port and usb port at the same time
